According to my Facebook memories and Timehop, January is a tough health month for us. I’ve had a sinus infection for most of the month and finally decided I needed meds to kick it, so I’m feeling better finally.
Lee preached the last two weeks at different churches. (You can watching his sermon about the value of life for people with disabilities and how churches and Christians can encourage them on Vimeo.) In February we’ll be sent out from our supporting church and will begin meeting with another church plant. We’re excited about this transition, and are praying for God’s guidance on the future of Journey Church.
David is playing basketball on the weekends and enjoying it. James’s teacher has taken a new position so he’ll get a new teacher next week. She has been wonderful and we’ll miss her! We’re hoping the transition is smooth for all the kids in James’s class.
Here are my favorites from the week …
- I love book lists, and this one from Teri Lynne is lots of fun.
- On Key Ministry, I encouraged churches to start planning now to include more kids with disabilities in their summer activities.
- Modern Mrs. Darcy shared a list of great audiobooks for kids and I knew David would love Artemis Fowl.
- 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Went to Seminary as a SAHM was an encouragement to me!
I’m listening to Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry for my book club. I also read Dark Matter (which I really liked) and finished MWF Seeking BFF ($1.99 for Kindle right now!). The author Rachel wanted to go on 52 friend dates in a year to find a new BFF. It was so interesting.
From the Bible:
I’ve been reading along with Nailed It: 365 Sarcastic Devotions for Angry or Worn-Out People. I loved her reflections on the story of Joseph and Genesis 43:5, “But if you will not send him, we will not go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.'” Anne writes, “You can’t go in to see the king. You can’t come in unless you bring your brother, the savior, with you.”
